Years back, I had stopped into Sami’s Pizza and Grill when it was Sami’s Kwik Stop, a convenience store that was starting to sell pizza. I didn’t think much of it then when I dropped in to get some colas, nor did I realize they would be expanding to a full-fledged restaurant.
My parents and I were driving up and down Marco Island’s main drag when the sign for Sami’s Pizza and Grill caught my eye. They weren’t too keen on stopping in since the restaurant space was under construction.
Everything was boarded up, including the entrance through the dimly lit back area. It was hard to convince them to go in, after which they finally caved in begrudgingly. It’s a good thing because it was worth all the hassle.

So, What’d We Eat?
The Sami’s Pizza and Grill menu has the usual pizza stuff with some burgers, kebabs, gyros, and *Mexican Food thrown in for good measure.
We did not try the kebabs or gyros, but based on everything else we ate, it seems like a safe bet that they’re good. The garlic cheese bread was nice and toasty, garlicky, and a great way to start the meal.
Anytime I can eat a housemade tamale, count me in, and this one was no exception. I took a few to go so my wife could enjoy them also.
The chicken wings are right on. This is precisely what you’re hoping for when you order buffalo wings, and these fellas did not disappoint.
The cheese fries were just that, nothing more. They could use some livening up, maybe some proprietary seasoning or chopped bacon, but it’s not bad.
The tortilla chips were freshly made and served with salsa. No complaints from us; we scarfed them down.
The cheeseburger didn’t do it for me. Let’s leave it at that.
Now, the pizza at Sami’s Pizza and Grill……WOW!!! This is the BEST Pizza I’ve eaten on Marco Island. We absolutely loved it, so I added them to the “must eat from every time we’re in Marco Island list, “you should, too.
All in all, it was a great experience at a spot my parents were refusing to stop at. It’s a good thing I stopped listening to them when I was 18, not really.
