We were on our month-long road trip driving from Boston, Massachusetts, to our next stop over at Niagra Falls, New York. I had scribbled a bunch of possible stops when one of my Instagram followers insisted that we grab a burger from Shoreless Acres & Serious Food (5006 E Lake Rd, Livonia).
There isn’t much information online about Shoreless Acres, making it much more attractive. I’m all about off-the-beaten-path food joints.
As best I can gather, Shoreless Acres is a market along with some food offerings. Serious Food is located in the same lot and features what we’re here for burgers and dogs.
While we were here, Serious Food only had a limited menu, but I did snap a picture of the full menu.
Serious Food Garbage Plate?
Chunktronics and I agree to share a cheeseburger and a chili dog. Then, Marcela ventures out on her own and get the Garbage Plate.
Mac salad, baked beans, fries, a cheeseburger, and a hot dog make up the Garbage Plate. Then, as if that doesn’t sound dangerous enough, she orders it with everything that means mustard, diced onions, and chili sauce.
It’s an explosive combination of flavors and not what I want while on a long road trip. However, Marcela had no complaints and thoroughly enjoyed her Garbage Plate.
There’s a Ground Round burger and a cheeseburger, the only difference being the white American cheese and fifty cents. The fries came with seasoning and fried crispy, ideal for dipping into ketchup.
Keepin’ Old School
I kept it old school with pickles, onions, and yellow mustard. Although the knotted roll was soft and had a distinctive-looking top bun, it did not affect its burger performance.
The toppings were just right for the Ground Round and its fresh beef burger. As an added plus, the burger patty is oddly shaped, which is always exciting.
Chunktronics and I begrudgingly shared this fella, but we kept it civil. Next time, there is no Ground Round sharing.
The Texas Hot comes split and griddled with chili sauce on top and diced onions & mustard on the bottom. Chunktronics isn’t much of a wiener fanatic, but it didn’t stop him from enjoying this guy.
I would have ordered a second Texas Hot if we had not been on a time crunch. So, I’m not sure how likely it would be that I’d find myself near Shoreless Acres again, but if that time did come, I’d be ready.
