I visited Siamo Ristorante and Pizzeria a few weeks ago and had a great experience there. It’s great to see the slow resurgence of the Miami Springs area with newer places like Jr’s Gourmet Burgers and Crackers Casual Dining.
I spent summers as a kid working in this area with my Dad on the Wise Potato Chip route that he owned at places that I can still vividly remember, like Piggly Wiggly (now Milam’s). Siamo Ristorante and Pizzeria also happens to be right down the street from this very spot.
Chunktronics joined me, and we arrived just as they were opening up, which gave us some time to think and rethink what we were going to order. We started with what I’d call a Caprese Sandwich, a thin focaccia bread sandwich brushed with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkled with sea salt and oregano, filled with fresh mozzarella and fresh plum tomato).
You couldn’t get any better or fresher of a start for a meal. By the way, I’m calling it a Caprese Sandwich because I don’t remember what it was really called. Name or not, get it.
Beast Likes Sangria
I’ve tried to transition to having wine with certain meals during the week, but if they have sangria, then that’s what I’ll have. What they had was Sangue Di Giuda, which fit the flavor profile I was looking for.
The Celeste Pizza with mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, Italian sausage, and red onions topped with two sunny-side-up eggs was only available for lunch. It was just what Dr. Beast asked for.
There were two of us, so it was easy to divide the runny egg slices among us. Otherwise, it would have been whoever called shotgun first.
Another good trick is to treat whoever is with you so that they have no choice but to give up the selection of food to you.
We also snacked on a Calzone di Spinaci with ham, spinach, and mozzarella cheese served with homemade marinara sauce. And by snack, I mean devour. The sauce was vibrant, and if you love tomatoes, you’ll definitely dig it.
More Pizza and Dessert Pizza
We added an extra pie to the mix, the Quattro Formaggi. I can’t pass up a good cheese orgy of mozzarella cheese, gorgonzola cheese, shaved grana padano, ricotta cheese, homemade garlic butter and fresh basil.
This is one of those cheese orgies; get this away from me before I eat it all moments. I think of my moments with that pizza as one might fondly remember their childhood summers.
I couldn’t believe the word Pizzanella came out of my mouth instead of Please bring the bill when I was asked if we wanted anything else. The Pizzanella (pizza dough topped with Nutella, vanilla ice cream, and fresh strawberry slivers) was the right way to end this meal.
One bite, and I was done. You might want to pace yourself a little better than we did when you ate here or come really hungry.
