Subway Kills it with the Fiery Meatball Sub

Before I discuss Subway‘s new Fiery Meatball Sub on ghost pepper bread, it’s important to note that I’m not a big fan and have never been. The sub-game has gotten fierce, and I’ll take a Quiznos (assuming I can find one) or Publix sub in a heartbeat over Subway.

When Marcela had Subway on regular rotation for the Veggie Delite, I ate their meatball sub. I made a few tweaks, adding jalapeños and pepperoni, a trick I picked up from my friend Gio Alonso in my Gamestop days.

Subway was only on my radar again once theendorsement mentioned the launch of a limited-time ghost pepper bread. My first thought was that it was time to revisit the meatball sub.

Subway was steps ahead of me with a new Fiery Meatball Sub. There’s also a Spicy Nacho Chicken and Spicy Nacho Steak, but those weren’t calling my name

The Fiery Meatball has meatballs, marinara, pepper jack cheese, and jalapeños wrapped in pepperoni, then topped with a creamy Sriracha sauce and parmesan cheese. It comes on the ghost pepper bread, which was the motive I needed to hit Subway.

The bread has jalapeños baked into it, and a quick look at the ingredients reveals habanero pepper, paprika extract, and ghost chili pepper. Since the ghost pepper is listed last, it’s the smallest ingredient by weight, possibly because of its potency.

One bite in, and my first thought was that it was the best thing I’d eaten at Subway. Whoever layered and came up with this combination hit it out of the ballpark.

I freakin’ loved it. Yes, it has some heat, but it is not unbearable. The best part? It’s as delicious as it gets for a Subway sub; fresh meatballs go a long way in my book.

One last thing for those who are constantly searching websites and apps for deals: if you’re in Florida, any footlong is $6.99 when ordered through the app or online (code 699FL) until November 2nd, 2024. That’s why I ordered a footlong instead of a six-inch.
