Tap 42 Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

My first visit to Tap 42 was in 2013, a few months after opening their first spot in Fort Lauderdale. I enjoyed the meal, but it wasn’t until Andy Yeager, Douglas, and Alex Rudolph came into the fold that their fortunes changed.

I’m a longtime Douglas Rudolph fan. He brought Wendy’s to Miami-Dade County in 1977 and opened one of my favorite all-time burger joints, Rudy’s Sirloin SteakBurgers.

Then, it should be no surprise that the burgers at Tap 42 are out of control awesome. And their Short Rib Beef Sliders have been in my Top 25 Burgers in Miami list consistently for the last few years.

This upscale gastropub is phenomenal, from the Flame Grilled Chicken Wings & Crispy Chicken Tender Melt to the Beer Battered Fish & Chips. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried and everyone’s platters I’ve stolen a bite from, sorry not sorry. The food even travels well when I’ve picked up or had it delivered.

In addition to Fort Lauderdale, Tap 42 has restaurants in Aventura, Boca Raton, Coral Gables, Coral Springs, Davie, Doral, Kendall (just opened), & Midtown Miami. So if they’re in your neighborhood, I suggest you hit them up, and if they’re not, they are most definitely worth the drive.

Original Tap 42 Post on Burger Beast

January 4th, 2013 – Tap 42 is a gastropub located at 1411 S Andrews Ave in Fort Lauderdale. If you’re a beer fan, you will love all the craft beers available on draft (51 to be exact) and in bottle form. You can even check out the bottle & draft line-ups online.

I was here for lunch, which was unfortunate since the dinner menu had some items that have had my eye virtually: Bite-Sized Meatballs, Warm Pretzels, Chicken Wings, Rock Shrimp Mac & Cheese, Black Jack Porter House Meatloaf, & Chef’s Choice Grilled Hawg Wings.

Marcela had their Butternut Bisque Soup and the Turkey Melt. She enjoyed both, and I didn’t even get to steal a bite as I was too busy in social media land “lol” ing and “liking” things.

Although, that spiced cream on the soup looks real good.

There is no shocking news here, but I ordered the Prohibition Burger (cheddar cheese, bacon & special sauce), and I discarded the lettuce, tomato, & onion. I was able to enjoy the burger once the lto were removed.

Tap 42 has its proprietary meat blend, which was seasoned perfectly. Also, this fella comes with fries and a side of ketchup.

But even more than that, the grind was great. It was on the verge of being crumbly, which I happen to love.

I really couldn’t make out what was in the special sauce. At first glance, it seemed like a Thousand Island dressing kinda deal, but I could swear I tasted some mustard in there.

It would have made a better dipping sauce for the fries than the ‘ol standby, ketchup.

I’ve gotta come back and try out that Black Jack Porter House Meatloaf for dinner. It sounds different and right up my comfort food alley.
