Wholesome Rollers Food Truck – CLOSED

A few months ago, my bud asked if I had ever eaten a Butter Burger. My first thought was, how does he even know what a Butter Burger is? Then it occurred to me there must be some new food truck with it on their menu. I was right.

Let me give you a quick background if you’re unfamiliar with that fella. This regional specialty burger hails from Wisconsin (the land of butter & cheese) and goes by Butter Burger. This burger is topped with butter, whether on the bun, patty, or meat. The most well-known Butter Burger is from Solly’s Grille (opened in 1936).

The Wholesome Rollers serves their version on a pretzel bun, topped with a thick slice of melted Wisconsin cheddar cheese and a baby slab of butter that melts all over, leaving your burger floating in a mini pool of it. Some might think this isn’t very good, but you would be wrong.

The Wholesome Rollers’ version of the Butter Burger is what I imagine eating one from Solly’s Grille would be like.

It is beyond good and more in excellent territory. But, first, it is in the “you must try it” category, and then after you do, it moves to the “I need another one” category.

Is There Anything Other Than The Burger Burger?

But remember, the Butter Burger isn’t the only thing worth eating whenever you see them. They’re pretty good about changing the menu and adding new stuff like bratwurst, mac n cheese, pretzel bites with Wisconsin beer cheese sauce, and even a mighty fine breakfast sandwich with Canadian bacon.

I vouch for everything I’ve had, and no disappointments so far. There’s lots of love in the food at the Wholesome Rollers food truck, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from a couple of folks from Wisconsin.

And then, the Wholesome Rollers Food Truck moved back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where it is still roaming the streets and feeding hungry souls.

The Wholesome Rollers food truck closed its doors for good in 2021.
