Elevation Burger in Falls Church, Virginia

Elevation Burger is a fast-casual restaurant chain that started in 2002, thanks to Hans Hess. He opened the first restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia, in 2005. Hess wanted to make a better burger, one that emphasized quality, sustainability, and healthier choices, setting it apart from typical fast food options.

Two things set Elevation Burger apart from the majority of burger joints. The beef is ground fresh at each location and is 100% grass-fed organic free-range beef, and the fresh-cut fries are cooked in olive oil.

So what does that mean for you? Taste. The burgers are cooked on a griddle and are available in either hamburger, the Elevation Burger (double patty), or the Vertigo Burger, where you can build a three—to ten-patty sandwich.

Of course, you can add Real Cheddar Cheese to the burgers. For vegetarians and vegans, there are also options of either a Fire-Roasted Burger or a Tastes Like Veggies Burger.

The Half-The-Guilt Burger, which includes one regular patty and one veggie patty of your choice, is also available. How about their Elevation Salad, grilled cheese, or having your burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun?

If you’re looking to eat burgers but also want to cut some calories, then this might be the place for you. And if you’re not, there’s still real ice cream shakes and cookies on the menu, too.

What Did I Eat?

I started with the Elevation Cheeseburger with Elevation Sauce, which is very similar to Thousand Island Dressing. I could have done without it, but in subsequent visits, I have realized that mustard is the way to go here.

The patties aren’t large, so go in with a doubles mindset. This will make for a more flavorful burger experience.

Elevation Fries are fresh-cut, and that comes through in the taste. I’m sure the fact that they’re cooked in olive oil helps a little. They were amazing. Yes….AMAZING!

The shakes are made of real ice cream with your choice of either vanilla, chocolate, or coffee ice cream. The chocolate shake hit the spot, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for them.

And the cookies—well, they’re available in either small or large. The only cookie available was a chocolate chip oatmeal pecan cookie made with organic eggs and butter. I don’t enjoy pecans, but I overlooked this because these cookies were so rich and delicious.

When it was all said and done, I went back and had another Elevation Cheeseburger, this time with grilled onions. I also had another order of fresh-cut fries because sometimes, you have to do what you have to.
