Bobby Flay at Bobby's Burger Palace in Miami

Remembering Bobby’s Burger Palace in Miami

I was lucky enough to get invited for a special preview of Bobby’s Burger Palace in Miami. In addition, I also had the opportunity to interview its owner, Bobby Flay, briefly before they opened the doors to the general public at Noon. Dadeland Mall was the location of Bobby Flay’s first Bobby’s Burger Palace in Florida. It was located in the new wing of the mall where the Limited was once located. They were hoping that this would be the beginning of Bobby’s South Florida expansion. The burgers at Bobby’s Burger Palace can be “Crunchified” or topped with potato chips. I’ve had quite a few of these dudes over the years at the South Beach Burger Bash, and they’ve always been delicious. The burgers, fries, and shakes I sampled are pictured below. Definitely use their sauces; my two favorites were the Burger Sauce (perfect for the Brunch Burger) and the …

Azucar Ice Cream in Little Havana

Azucar Ice Cream in Miami & Dallas

It’s been a long time since I first stepped inside Azucar Ice Cream. However, it wasn’t until after my third visit that my infatuation with their Mantecado flavor took hold. Mantecado is a little more than just a Cuban Vanilla. The flavor profile leans towards a cinnamon-y egg nog. I’m pretty sure my fascination with Mantecado is also rooted in my late grandfather’s love of it. There are plenty of ice cream flavors to satiate every palate. The best part is that they make the ice cream; there are no cutting corners here. Besides their original Little Havana location, Azucar now has an outpost in Dallas, Texas, and their second spot in Miami Pinecrest. So, of course, it helps to be near one of them when your sweet tooth tingles. Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa) have their own dude (or dudette) representing the place. On the flip side of this coin, you always hope that the resto has some good food or it’s just a waste of a character. My wife Marcela was with me but just wanted something to drink. So I took this opportunity to order her a Hershey Chocolate Häagen-Dazs Milk Shake that she didn’t want (maybe she didn’t, but I needed to try it). I go for a double order of fries (1 pound), a chili dog, and The Burger Monger (their signature 6 oz. Akaushi Kobe Beef patty). The shake arrives, and I watch the person who claimed they didn’t want any, slurping away. I take a taste, and …
