I’ve spent the last few years eating the best burgers in Broward and Palm Beach counties. Like my Best Burgers in Miami list, I will update it throughout the year.
This Best Burger list was not created by a group of people but by me. Its sole purpose is to turn burger fans on to a new favorite.
Over the years, we’ve lost some good ones, like Burger Freak, Burgers & Suds, and even more recently, the short-lived Dad’s Favorite Burgers. So, go out and support these mom-and-pop burger joints.
Best Broward Burgers Rules
It’s important to note that all burgers on this list are fresh beef; frozen patties are not allowed. I then put together a list based on what I’ve eaten and started to eliminate burgers.
The list shrinks down to 30. Then, the most challenging part comes: deciding which to cut. From there, it’s a matter of figuring out which burger I prefer to eat when comparing the two.
To be 100% clear, I have eaten every burger on this list and taken every picture. If you’re looking for burger list shenanigans, go elsewhere.
All the burgers are listed alphabetically; if not, you’d only try the Top 5.
American Social
There’s an American Social in Boca Raton and Miami, but I prefer the vibe at the Fort Lauderdale location. The 1/2 pound AmSo Burger is big, beefy, and juicy, the way all burgers should be. Add an egg if you’re feeling frisky.

BMC Smash Burgers
I met JayRok when he was doing hot dog pop-ups as Frankenfurters. About a year later, he added smash burgers to his pop-up repertoire. He has now found his true calling.
Not to take away anything from the tasty cylindrical meats he was grilling, but the BMC smash burgers have that perfect crust with melted and crispy grilled onions. Plus, they look beautiful.

BRGR Stop
It’s tough to decide whether to visit the BRGR Stop in Fort Lauderdale or the original in Coconut Creek. Whichever you prefer, it’s going to be delicious.
If you’re in the spicy mood, I gotta suggest The Friendly Ghost Burger: Ghost pepper sauce, ghost pepper cheese, pineapple chutney, and proper bacon on an 8-oz patty. Otherwise, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

Char-Hut Burgers
I first ate at Char-Hut by some chance encounter when I was lost driving around Broward County in my teen years.
The Char-Buster Double with cheese and grilled onions is my usual order, but now I’m all about the Big Bite Burger. It’s a half-pounder, which adds brisket to the burger patty beef blend, giving it a tastier, meatier flavor.

Charm City Burger Company
I’ve been in love since that fateful summer afternoon in 2009 when I first ate at Charm City Burger Company.
The Good Ole with American cheese, LTO, pickles, and special sauce is a great first-time burger. I’m a giant fan of The Cowboy cause that thick-cut pepper bacon, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms hit my palate like a ton of bricks.

Culver’s
Culver’s ButterBurger cheese was a beautiful little number; take a close look at the crust on that burger. The cheese is always nice and melty. We ordered it as a double, so now you can grasp that unmistakable fresh beef taste.
I am jealous that Culver’s has not made its way down to Miami-Dade County yet, but that 40-minute drive is totally worth it!

Effe Cafe
A Patty Melt was the last thing I expected to find at Effe Cafe. Their menu leans on tasty baked goods, but there’s a tremendous non-traditional Patty Melt on house-baked sourdough.
Is it always on the Effe Cafe? No, but it doesn’t hurt to ask!

The Food Truck Store
The Food Truck Store is an Argentine burger joint that has two locations in South Florida: North Miami and Wilton Manors.
They are known for a menu filled with Regional Burger Specialties and tribute burgers to the brands that popularized them in the United States. The San Bernadino is named after McDonald’s founding city. And, yes, I’m suggesting you order this beauty.

Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill
No matter how tempted you are, please repeat after me: eat the Havarti Burger at Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill. There are other burgers on the menu, but this is where you should start for first-timers.
All the burgers are half-pound and cooked to your liking, so if you’re one of the medium rare types of people, they’ve got it handled. Also, ask about burger of the month; it’s always a winner.

Jack’s Old Fashion Hamburger House
Jack’s Old Fashion Hamburger House burgers are ground in-house daily; we’re talking super fresh. There are three sizes to choose from: Jack Jr (1/4 pound), Original (1/3 pound), and Big Jack (1/2 pound) burgers.
My go-to is the original cheeseburger with mustard relish, a condiment that has disappeared from burger joint menus. Your first bite will transport you back to when quality was king.

Le Tub Saloon
Le Tub makes the best-known burger in South Florida. It’s a 13-oz. hand-pattied ground sirloin char-grilled burger on a Kaiser roll with onion, tomato, and lettuce. American or Swiss cheese, pickles, and bacon are optional.
That beautiful slab of burger heaven with American cheese is so freakin’ good. Feel free to do you while I’m over here, keeping it simple and delicious.

Legends Tavern & Grille
Legends has two burger styles on the menu but the smash burger is the one that stole my heart. They did an excellent job with the crispy edges along with buttering and toasting the buns, which added a little hidden flavor boost that really tied that burger together. As a bonus, the buns are from a local Italian bakery.

North South Grill
North South Grill 1/4 pound burgers come standard with North sauce, American cheese, pickles, and lettuce-tomato-onion. The lettuce and tomato are a no-go for me, and I switch the onions to grilled, aka next level.
These fellas were so good that I made the 30-minute drive the following day cause I couldn’t believe it. I highly suggest that you squeeze in fresh-cut fries or hand-breaded chicken tenders.

Rosie’s Bar and Grill
It took me a few years to finally visit Rosie’s Bar & Grill. The Riverwalk Burger Battle was my first encounter with Rosie’s, and I loved it but never pulled the trigger.
Now, after visiting and enjoying the Ivana Hooker burger, I’m hooked. My girl is a half-pound burger covered with blue cheese crumbles and bacon on a toasted brioche bun. And I love her.

Shaun’s Cooking
Shaun Whyte got his start in the burger game working with Ted’s Burgers. Since then, he’s gone off on his own, mostly doing his burger, jerk taco, and pizza pop-ups in Broward County.
If you’re looking for a beautifully smashed, tasty burger, Shaun has you covered. But don’t sleep on his kerk tacos; those are also great.

Sonny’s Famous Steak Hogies
Just give me a second to explain before you try to argue that a cheeseburger sub should not make a second appearance on this list. We’re talking about Sonny’s, the landmark Hollywood sub shop that serves killer cheesesteaks.
Take Sonny’s freshly baked bread and introduce fresh beef patties, grilled onions, and American cheese (or provolone) to the equation. I can’t imagine you’d be against this delicious fella.

Temple Street Eatery
It pains me to say this because this Katsu Bao Burger goes against many of my burger beliefs. So much so that this burger can not pass Go and can not collect $200…but went straight to my Best Burgers in Broward list.
Katsu Bao Burger = Japanese panko-crusted burger patty, Asian slaw, pineapple slice, tonkatsu sauce, and Kewpie mayo on a Bao burger bun.

Terraza’s at Hyde
The Terrazas At Hyde burger won my Heineken Light Burger Beast Challenge. This divine sandwich features their house beef blend burger with garlic aioli, Swiss cheese, bacon onion marmalade, tomato, and arugula (tomato and arugula are optional) on a fluffy bun.
The other burger on the menu. La Brea replaces the bacon onion marmalade for guac, and that might be more your speed, which is ok. I’ll be smiling across the table from you with the bacon onion marmalade.

Tipsy Boar
The minute you sit down at Tipsy Boar, point to the Millionaire Bacon Burger. Let your server know that before they even take the drink order.
This picture-perfect burger has cheddar cheese, orange rum BBQ sauce, and candied bacon. It will have your heart after you are done eating it.

This should be labeled better fast food burgers. To suggest these are the best in Broward is a joke. For the best, you pay. Capital Grill level places. You get prime cuts of meat, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, crunchy pickles, hot crisp fries, superb and knowledgeable servers and a kitchen that knows what its doing. And after the feast you get to wipe your hands on a linen napkin and tablecloth.
Move along, nothing for you to see here Mr. Clueless Burger Expert.
Charm City moving to Boca (Old Baja Cafe building near City Hall) Can’t wait.
Luckily the original space in Deerfield Beach will still serve burgers.
