Root Beer Drive-In Serves Up Housemade Root Beer

El Rey de las Fritas

Back in 1956 when Root Beer Drive-In opened up it was an A&W Drive-In, one of many that were all over the United States. I can’t confirm but I believe it was the early’80s when the license for A&W expired. One thing has not changed since then and that’s the housemade Root Beer. Unfortunately it is no longer a drive-in and while there is a seating, it’s open air with a roof.

I received my amazing Vanill-y fresh Root Beer while I wait for my food to be made fresh. My biggest fear with the food was that I was gonna find a frozen patty that they were gonna pass off as a “burger” and canned chili that they were gonna say was homemade. I was wrong.

My only regret was that I didn’t do a Chili Dog too but those Chili Cheese Fries were….WOW!! Just take a look at that chili, it might be the best in town (sorry Mom!).

I have no reason as to why I asked for Cheese and Mayo on my burger. It’s been a good ten years since I removed that combo from my repertoire. My only beef (yes I did sneak in that bad joke) was that the burger comes cut in half which I’m gonna assume you can ask them not to do. It’s a solid burger and the thoughts of a Chili Burger that are now dancing in my head may take it to the next level.

Next time there will definitely be a Patty Melt, a Chili Dog and yes oh yes….a Root Beer Float in my future!!! What is your future lookin’ like?
