Atlanta is a Great Road Food Town
I’ve taken multiple gastronomical journeys through Atlanta, Georgia. Must eats include Fox Bros BBQ, NFA Burger, and The Varsity!
The Hot Brown sandwich, also known as the Louisville Hot Brown or Kentucky Hot Brown, originated at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, and was crafted by Fred K. Schmidt back in 1926.
The Hot Brown features an open-faced sandwich with turkey breast, ham, and bacon smothered in a Mornay sauce. The sandwich is baked or broiled in the oven, which adds some tasty crispness.
Schmidt devised this creation as a twist on the classic Welsh rarebit, offering patrons an alternative to late-night ham and egg dinners.

Claudia Sanders Dinner House is located inside an old country-style two-story home in Shelbyville, Kentucky. Her husband, Colonel Sanders, founded KFC.
Even though Lexington, Kentucky’s Parkette Drive-In closed on June 28, 2022, I still have fond memories of the Poor Boy Double Decker and Hot Brown.
