I remember the first time someone mentioned A.C.’s Icees to me, and I admitted I had never hit him up. I didn’t get an “I can’t believe you haven’t had it” face but more like an “I feel sorry for you“ face.
But after having A.C.’s, it left me with a “where have you been all my life” kinda look right before I finished one of his lemonades so fast it left me with brain freeze.
A.C.’s Icees has been around since 1978 at Kennedy Park in Coconut Grove. You can find him there from 11 to 6 every day. Did you know he has the first mobile concession permit from the city of Miami?
In 2008, to celebrate his 30 years of service to the community, the City of Miami installed a stone seat monument with a plaque. You can find it right where his truck is usually parked.
Size and Flavor, Please!
A.C.’s Icees has three flavors: Frosted Lemonade, Cherry, and Piña Colada, AND three sizes: Small (12 oz), Medium (16 oz), and Large (24 oz). I’ll usually go straight for the lemonade and medium size.
That dude will melt unless you’re a quick slurper during the summer. What am I talking about…the heat is always here; get the large!
This is the smoothest and one of the most flavorful lemonades you will ever have; nothing compares, aka Sinead O’Connor-style.
If you are hungry, might I suggest one of his dogs (Sabrett’s) with the NY-style onions? They’re the perfect thing to wash down with a cold drink on a warm Miami afternoon.
But you should already know that since you should have already been here. Hmmmmm….?
