It’s not that I don’t enjoy Coconut Grove, but it’s not a part of town I frequent often. Berries in the Grove can be found on the outskirts before you drive into the thick of things.
I remember in the early 2000s when Berries was just a juice & smoothie bar before the addition of the former Las Culebrinas location next door. Then, the menu expansion began and evolved into what it is today.

The last time I ate at Berries with Marcela, we sat on the former Las Culebrinas side. We were here for the Heineken Light Burger Beast Challenge to try a specialty burger created for this promotion.
The good folks at Berries created a Chimi Burger with queso fresco, spicy cole slaw, sweet plantains & chimichurri on a brioche bun. It’s a riff on the Dominican Chimi Burger, a regional specialty burger.

It’s a tasty burger but not my cup of tea. I save my slaw consumption for spicy chicken sandwiches.
Hand-breaded chicken fingers are served with a side of housemade honey mustard, which arrived right before the burger reached our table. Now, these juicy fellas, I can get behind.

We need to get back here for breakfast or maybe a chicken sandwich for lunch. I think it must be great if it’s anything like the fingers.
