Burger Bob’s Diner in Coral Gables

Burger Bob’s falls into the greasy spoons restaurant category. There’s nothing wrong with that; you’ll typically find some of the best comfort food at places like this.

If you don’t know where they’re located, you could drive by Burger Bob’s in Coral Gables. They’re right on the Coral Gables Granada Golf Course with a beautiful view of the course itself.

It is cash only, which, for some reason, I had anticipated. Walking into this place is like walking through a time warp; it takes you back to a diner in the ’50s.

I’ve been here a handful of times and always order the patty melt with fries. It’s a great patty melt, the textbook definition of one.

The hot dog I ordered was grilled on the flat top and was a little bit crispy, in other words, excellent. The raw onions were the right touch it needed (alright, so I added some Mustard also). Great dog.

The fries were standard, while the chili was right on and would probably make a great addition to the dog.

After looking around, I noticed that breakfast is this place’s strong suit, not the burger. They seem to have everything you’d like: eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, grits, pancakes. I’m sure you get the idea.

So, I plan to return to have breakfast here, and I’ll keep you posted unless you prefer to keep me posted first.
