Hole in the Wall Pub in Palmetto Bay was difficult to find, but if you look hard enough, you’ll see it hidden in the back right corner of a strip mall.
The seating inside includes picnic tables, bar stools & some full-on tables outside. I sit at the bar nearest the grill & food prep area to size up the menu.
I had been thinking about something but didn’t want to confirm until I tried the food.
The wings were ordered hot. They were great crispy wings with a slight char & tossed/marinated in a hot sauce/Worcestershire sauce mix.
The wings were reminiscent of Sports Grill or Keg South, putting them in great company.
My fresh-cut fries were next. The long potato slivers were excellent and perfect for dipping in the red stuff.
And Now for the Hole Burger
I watched my burger cook on the grill and thought this fella was overcooking it. One bite, and I realized how wrong I was.
It had all the pinky goodness & juiciness I’d hoped for. The toasted bun and the melted American cheese rounded out my great eight-ounce Hole Burger.
This brings me to what I was thinking: Hole in the Wall Pub is great, but as a long-time Keg South fan, you can’t deny the similarities. The rumor around town is that a former Keg South manager owns Hole in the Wall Pub.
It makes total sense as everything, including the decor, seems familiar. The food is fantastic comfort food, and at the end of the day, isn’t that what it’s all about?
Hole in the Wall has added three more locations after this was written. There’s a good chance that one of the restaurants is near you if you live near the Miami suburbs farther south.
