According to the Los Verdes website, they sold over 3 million quesadillas, 2.8 million hamburgers, and 2.1 million hot dogs. Is that even possible?
Well, I believe it, considering there are currently 8 South Florida restaurant locations, plus New York and Panama locations.
Los Verdes was founded Daniel Giraldo in 2006. Even though Daniel is Colombian, Los Verdes is a little more diverse regarding its food offerings.
Los Verdes Menu
You will not only find Colombian Comida Rapida classics like maicito, perro, and hamburgers, but I’ve seen Venezuelan cachapas (corn pancakes) and arepas rellenas (stuffed arepas) on the menu.

What to Eat
A great way to start is the Salchipapa Criolla. The regular salchipapa are cocktail-sized hot dog bites with french fries…switch the fries for those tasty mini yellow potatoes, and now you’re talking.
I like to fork one mini dog and one potato, then dip in some of their pink sauce, a mayo-ketchup mix. You’ll be in heaven.
Another tremendous but filling starter is the maicito. Maicito was my first introduction to the beautiful world of Colombian Comedia Rapida (fast food). I’ve been hooked ever since.
A maicito is a cup of corn kernels topped with mozzarella cheese, crushed potato chips, plus pink and pineapple sauces. You can upgrade by adding chicken, steak, bacon, or all.
Don’t start with the fully loaded “Con Todo;” you need to work up to it. It’s the only way to appreciate each maicito variation.
The Main Event
The Perro is a hot dog with mozzarella cheese, crushed potato chips, pink and pineapple sauces, and topped with a quail egg. I like to eat mine from either side, so the quail egg bite is my grand finale.
And much like the maicito and perro, we’re talking mozzarella, crushed potato chip, pink sauce, and that lovely pineapple sauce. If you want a more traditional burger with lettuce and tomato, it’s available.
The signature burger is the Famous Verdolaga. It includes a beef burger, ham, chicken breast, and all of their traditional toppings. It sounds like a mouthful, and much like their fully loaded maicito, I still need to build up to eating one.
