Burgers-n-Broads Release Party at Latin House Burger & Taco Bar

Last night was the release party for the Burger-n-Broads 2013 Calendar, a project I’ve been working on with my friend Janette Valentine of Terribly Girly for almost 10 months. We celebrated at Latin House Burger & Taco Bar, one of the 12 South Florida Burger Joints featured in the calendar. It was a packed house and this is not some internet hype.

Thank you so much to everyone who came out & purchased a Burgers-n-Broads Calendar. I’d like to thank Dos Equis & Heineken for sponsoring with a great beer deal for Calendar purchases and of course to Latin House Burger & Taco Bar for opening up their restaurant to us for the party; Janette Valentine for her amazing photography; Mike Lugo aka Electricphish for the ridiculously beautiful design of the Calendar; the “Broads” who were on hand signing Calendars for folks: Ashley, Dani, Delilah, Lisa & Priscilla and to all the Restaurant Owners, Food Truck Owners and Bloggers who came out to support last night: Audio Junkie, Azucar Ice Cream Company, Cheeseburger Baby, my Arch Enemy @TheChrisHags, Craft Brewjas, Daddy’s Grill, Fatgirl Hedonist, Food Truck Invasion, The Flying Saucer, Food Cart USA, Lokal Burgers and Beer, Luis Galindo’s Latin American Bakery & Cafe, Marlie’s Delights, Ocean Promotions(Grovetoberfest), Pincho Factory, Chef Robyn Almodovar of Palate Party & Hell’s Kitchen, Chef Richard Hales of  Sakaya Kitchen, Shroud Eater & South Florida Burger Overload!

An Extra Special Thanks to my wife Marcela for doing all the dirty work to make sure the Burgers-n-Broads Calendar was perfect.

My Picks for South Beach Wine & Food Festival 2013 #SoBeWFF

The Events page is up for the 2013 South Beach Wine & Food Festival. I always like to look at what’s going and see which events catch my eye. Of course Burger Bash is tops on my list but I’m lovin’ the Carnivorous Dinner and Chicken Coup which unfortunately for me are going on simultaneously. Baking Out Loud with Hedy Goldsmith is also a good one cause it’s Short (1 hour) and Sweet (I’m so funny). So check out my picks and tell me, what are yours?

St. Baldrick’s Food Truck Event in September at Arts Park in Hollywood

I spent a few hours this past Monday discussing the St. Baldrick’s Foundation with Chris Haggerty, a giant Food Truck fan and the motivating force behind a bunch of the food trucks’ involvement with the charity. If you’re not familiar with St. Baldrick’s (I wasn’t), here’s their Mission Statement:

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

We’re going to host an event to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation at Arts Park in Hollywood on Monday September 10th from 5:30-9:30PM. I’m hoping that you can come out and support this event.

On Saturday September 15th at Mickey Byrnes in Hollywood at 4PM will be the big event where every “shavee” who has collected donations will have their heads shaved bald to support the kids with cancer.

I have signed up as a “shavee” and you can donate money to St. Baldrick’s via my participant’s page —> Burger Beast .

Please remember that every last dollar counts.

Thanks.

Artisan Food Fest at the Coral Gables Museum on Saturday August 11th

The 2nd Saturday of every month is Family Day on Aragon in Coral Gables. On Saturday, August 11 (11AM-5PM)  the Artisan Food Fest will be there too featuring some of South Florida’s finest artisan food vendors for one day at the Coral Gables Museum. Along with buying some great local products, there will be “cooking demos, tastings, raffles and more!” Children will also be able to enjoy the Museum with its arts and crafts.

Which leads us to the next question, while the kids are at the museum which Artisan Food Vendors will be there?
