I would have changed my order if I could go back in time. What was I thinking?
The first thing is first. Let me give you a little background on Flip Burger Boutique in Atlanta. I was initially under the illusion that Richard Blais from Top Chef was the owner of Flip.
I have come to find out that his company is a consultant on Flip and that he is the Creative Director. Either way, being a fan of Richard Blais (because of Top Chef) was the draw for me here.
John and I walked into Flip Burger Boutique, and it was busy. We give our name and wait, which, unfortunately, allows us time to dissect the place.
We’re looking around, and in all honesty, if a bomb landed on this place, I don’t think anyone would be missed. Am I being too harsh? Some dude walked in with green Crocs and a red turtle neck; enough said.
We’re seated, and I’m excited because I’ve heard about their milkshakes. I ordered a Krispy Kreme while John ordered the Nutella + Burnt Marshmallow milkshake.
How Were The Flip Burger Boutique Burgers?
John goes for what seems to be the safe bet and orders the Flip Burger Boutique. I should interject that their patties are 5.5 ounces and a mix of hanger steak, brisket, and short rib. The Flip Burger includes onion, lettuce, tomato, homemade pickles, and FLIP sauce.
I chose the Kobe Burger with American Kobe beef, seared foie gras (duck liver), shaved truffles, B&B pickles, and red wine syrup. I figured I’d seen enough foie gras on Top Chef and Anthony Bourdain‘s No Reservations to be convinced I must try this.
Me no likey. A wrong decision by me just killed my lunch. Yet, the fries and onion rings were fantastic.
You Know What’s Really Good? The Krispy Kreme Milkshake
The one thing that left a lasting impression was their milkshakes, particularly the Krispy Kreme Milkshake.
Other flavors include Rice Krispy, Nutella + Burnt Marshmallow, Turtle, Pineapple Upside Down, Orange Creamsicle & Offaltine (Foie Gras and Chocolate) milkshakes.
How can you make something so delicious even better? Make it into a milkshake, I say, and they did. Good move!
