Marcela and I stopped at Nu-Way Weiners in Macon, Georgia, on the last night of our road trip. It was Memorial Day, so it was a tad difficult to find a spot to eat at, much less one I wanted to eat at.
On the drive there from Nashville, Marcela called three Nu-Way Weiners restaurants, but there was no answer. So, we checked out the menu.

Finally, Let’s Eat Some Weiners
Once we arrived at our hotel in Macon, I figured I’d give it another shot. On my first try, I found an open Nu-Way Weiners. Thank goodness!
The Patty Melt had no onions and was on white bread. She might have been better off with a grilled cheese sandwich, which also happens to be on the menu coincidentally.
The most important thing I took away from my visit to Nu-Way Weiners is the chili, an all-beef sauce and no-beans creation. Those red hots may be unique in the looks department, but that chili takes them to the next level in my book.
And let’s not even get started on the greatness of those chili-cheese fries. So yes, get the dogs and fries and slather them with chili and cheese—done deal.

Weiners is Spelled Wrong
Nu-Way Weiners opened up in 1916 (the same year as Nathan’s) right here in Macon, Georgia. They are known for their red-colored hot dogs, and yes, they’re well aware that Weiners is spelled wrong.
According to its website, Nu-Way has intentionally misspelled W-E-I-N-E-R on its marquee since 1937.
Marcela went for the Patty Melt with fries while I hit up the chili cheese fries and two hot dogs with chili, cheese, onions, & mustard. I meant weiners, whoops.
I’ve wanted to try a Nu-Way dog since the PBS program in 1999 called ‘A Hot Dog Program’.
