I know what you’re thinking, why am I writing about Keg South again? Even though I am, I’m really not. I don’t know if that even makes any sense. Although Keg South of Kendall was originally my favorite Keg South, the location on US1 has replaced it in my heart, (there’s also a Homestead location). Another less known fact is that they have different owners, which explains a few things like the Wings. This Keg South is located on US1 and 104th and is a little difficult to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for but well worth the search.
I call up my old friend Nelson and ask him if he’d like to meet up for Burgers, Wings and Beers and it’s a go. He had never been here which is a plus. We order the Stuffed Jalapeño Peppers and 10 Wings. We both go with the Jumbo Keg Burger. The Peppers were good (I’ve only had them with Cheddar Cheese not Cream Cheese) and I bit into them way too soon. The roof of my mouth has now definitely seen better days. You should also try the Fresh Cut Fries if you get a chance, they’re really good.
Stuffed Jalapeño Peppers
The Wings were awesome as usual, grilled but with some heat. This is the biggest difference between this Keg South and the location in Kendall. The Wings here are way better. Nelson prefers wet Wings but he liked these anyway. To wash everything down we ordered a pitcher of Beer, some ice cold stuff.

The Burgers, well they don’t disappoint. Nelson enjoyed his, and after we finished our Burgers we hung around and had more beer. And after it’s all said and done, there’s nothing like sitting back & discussing one of the Best Burgers in South Florida.

Betty’s Best Burgers….So this place recently changed it’s name to Betty’s Best Burgers (how many more times can I say Betty’s Best Burgers ). It was previously Amos Sports Grill and before that Fuddruckers. How is the place? How different is Betty’s from Amos or from Fuddruckers for that matter and my answer? As George Lopez would say “It’s the same shit, the same shit” As you know, for emphasis you always say it twice. I have now started my campaign to rename this place “Fakeruckers”, you heard it here first. I ordered the 1 pound burger with bacon and cheese as well as an order of Chili Cheese Fries (not pictured). I was a big fan of Fuddruckers burgers before they changed their burgers. Betty’s Best is still doing the old school version of the Fuddrucker’s Burger which is good for me.
If I were you, I would stick to all the fresh toppings available in the self serve area and skip ordering the grilled Onions, they don’t taste right. Also try the honey mustard here which is different from other Fuddruckers’ locations and much better. The Chili Cheese Fries were pretty good and I must bring this up because I’m a Coke man, they serve Pepsi…….(UPDATE 10-26-08: They now serve delicious and refreshing Coca-Cola).
If you love the original Fuddruckers, then go to Betty’s Best Burgers cause it’s the same…..that’s right.
Oh yeah, let me leave you with this great story from back when it was Amos Sports Grill. They have a full bar but there never seems to be a bartender. So, I was with a few friends and we ordered some White Russians. The manager finally shows up after he was drooling over some veteranas (Cougars in Spanish) that were getting dessert. He asks us what the ingredients are (his words, not mine). He must not have seen the Big Lebowski. Mr. manager looks around finds the Kahlua, finds the Vodka and can not find any half & half. He gets the little half & half containers you’re given for coffee and proceeds to make us possibly the worst White Russian I’ve ever had. True story….es la verdad.
