Angel’s Dining Car – Palatka, Florida

Angel's Dining Car is the oldest diner in Florida.

Did you know that Angel’s Dining Car is the oldest continuously operating diner in Florida? Angel’s Dining Car opened in 1932 and is located in Palatka, Florida. Curb service is still available or you can take a seat inside the narrow but homey space (an old railroad dining car).

My wife Marcela and I started with some fried pickle chips that were highly addictive. She ordered the Patty Melt while I went for the classic 1/4 lb. burger topped with cheese & mayo on the burger patty and onions, pickles & mustard relish under it.

I noticed something called the Monnie Burger on the menu after our order was placed. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to try it. The Monnie Burger is a mini burger with American cheese on top and pickles, raw onions and mustard relish on the bottom. What a perfect little snack that guy was.

A few days after the visit Marcela and I were still talking about their fresh beef 1/4 lb. cheeseburger and pickles chips. Oh man and that Monnie Burger…There is no doubt in my mind that we will be back.

Pro Tip: Don’t be a rookie like me. I missed out on ordering these two signature items:

Pussalow – Chocolate milk with vanilla syrup over crushed ice

Black Bottom Sandwich – A burger, egg, and bacon sandwich served on a bun along with burger toppings
