Man, it’s been years since my last visit to Grampa’s Restaurant (formerly Grampa’s Deli & Cafe) in Dania Beach. And to be quite honest, back then, it didn’t do much for me.
The new owners of Grampa’s reached out to me via Instagram and invited me to try a handful of their signature dishes. I was game as long as a patty melt was in the cards.
Grampa’s is a few hundred feet from Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor. Jaxson’s was my backup plan in case all hell broke loose.
Let’s get this revisit started right with an order of potato pancakes. These beauties were correctly executed, which means we were off and running.
My three meal favorites were the pork roll breakfast sandwich on a house-rolled bagel. In this case, I chose the everything bagel, which was 🔥
Hello Patty Melt
As I mentioned earlier, I had to eat the patty melt, which is no surprise here as this is one of the sandwiches I obsess over. This fella was just added to my Best Patty Melts in South Florida.
And lastly, Grampa’s unassuming cheesesteak sandwich. What makes it stand out? Garlic butter…yes, I said garlic butter, a sneakily delicious move.
Alright, that wasn’t last; there was a hot dog knish I was holding out on. Where has this been all my life, and when can we be reunited?
And, there you have it, a landmark restaurant in Dania Beach since 1957, Grampa’s still delivers the goods. This makes even more sense since they’re now #burgerbeastapproved.
