A spot called Lumpy’s Cafe, you say? They have great burgers, coneys & tenderloin sandos, you also say?
Well, they were right.

When you walk into a restaurant, and pretty much everyone turns to look at you…you’re at a spot for locals. Well, this local favorite has a counter seating on the right with tables in the back and by the windows.
All the tables are filled, another good sign, so we (Chunktronics is with me) head to the stools to watch all the action happening.

As tempted as we were to order a chili, we thought better of it and went with a coney dog. It still allows us to taste the chili which is what the plan was anyways.
I’m all about coney sauce since I’ve never been a bean-in-chili kinda fella. The bun was toasted, adding some nice texture and making the coney much better.
In other words, the coney dog was a thing of beauty. The onion rings were of the beer-batted variety, not my favorite, and that’s ok cause Chunktronics loved them.

Nothing excites me more than a textbook patty melt. We’re talking griddled rye with grilled onions and Swiss cheese.
The patty melt was bonkers good.
Breaded Pork Tenderloin Time
And now, what we stopped here for, the hand-breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. There’s also a grilled version if you’re trying to behave.
The Big Tenderloin frightened me at one pound before breading, so we went the small tenderloin route. Lettuce, tomato, and onion top the tenderloin, but like I do with burgers, they were goners right on arrival.
Don’t worry; the LTO didn’t go to waste, Chunktronics is a fan of piling those guys on his sandwiches, so it all worked out in the end.
This highly-touted pork tenderloin sandwich is listed on the Tenderloin Lovers Culinary Trail and on many best-of lists. It made me believe that world peace is achievable in my lifetime.

Look, I’m not saying to have to eat at Lumpy’s Cafe….but…you need to eat at Lumpy’s Cafe. Got that?
