It’s about time The Grind: Miami’s Burger Battle released the list of restaurants and desserts that will be feeding you. Last week I was able to cobble together a list of 12 or so restaurants that had confirmed participation through their social media.

Frita Shop makes “Unofficial” Debut

News about Alberto Cabrera’s (formerly of the Local in the Gables) new concept restaurant Frita Shop was outed by my bud SteveBM a month ago. The 1st Frita Shop will be opening in a former Farm Stores location in Kendall near Havana Harry’s in a few months.

Frita Shop made its “unofficial” debut at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s Grand Tasting Village event on Saturday afternoon. Their Kimchee Frita (Kimchee, Sriracha Ketchup, Cilantro, Onion on Potato Bun) was handed out to the masses, more than half of which probably have no clue what a Frita is.

I did not attend the Grand Tasting but my wife brought back a flyer Frita Shop was handing out plus she snapped a couple of pictures of their “station” and the actual Kimchee Frita.

Not much info of note has been released other than yes, there will be Fritas as well as liquid nitrogen shakes (I’ll go out on a limb and guess Mamey & Mantecado). I’ll keep you posted as the meat data aka la carne trickles in.

Pincho Factory’s New Menu is here!

Over the course of the last year Pincho Factory in Westchester has introduced a ridiculous amount of menu items. As with everything in life, some had more staying power than others so it makes sense that some of those fellows have made it to the permanent menu.

The New Pincho Factory Menu officially rolls out today with lots of past favorites like the Fritanga Burger (5oz Patty topped with Slaw, Crema, and Fried Cheese), Toston Burger (5oz Patty with 2 Fried Plantains as the buns & topped with Cheese, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cilantro Sauce & Roasted Garlic Sauce)and the Sweet Potato Tots.

Foreman (a 5oz Patty sandwiched between 2 full grilled cheese sandwiches, winner of the 2012 Best Specialty Burger at my Burgie Awards) is not on the menu officially but there is a Grilled Cheese  ::::hint hint wink wink:::: you do the math. The only thing really missing if you ask me (I’m gonna assume you are since you’re at my blog) is the “That’s What She Said” Dog. It caused a cylindrical meat craze the likes of which may never be seen again.

Check out the menu below and eat up:

Sweetness Bake Shop adds Doughnuts to its Arsenal

Sweetness Bake Shop & Cafe who also run the Sugar Rush Truck have added doughnuts to its arsenal of sweet creations. The doughnuts will also be available on the truck occasionally as they were this past Friday at Tamiami Park. It seems as if they are testing out different flavors daily since there was a Lucky Charms doughnut when I was there that I hadn’t seen on their Facebook page.

COOLHAUS Adds The Burger Beast Ice Cream Sandwich

How often can someone say that they’re immortalized as an Ice Cream Sandwich? I will go out on a burger limb and say not many. When COOLHAUS approached me about adding a Burger Beast Ice Cream Sandwich to their line-up, I was ecstatic. COOLHAUS has all these fantastic flavors and cookies to choose from. I thought long and hard about which cookie and/or flavors best represent me.

The BB has Potato Chip & Skor Bar Cookies sandwiching a slab of COOLHAUS’ Brown Butter Candied Bacon Ice Cream. The sandwich is as divine as it sounds. You’ll be able to get your hands on this dude starting this Friday at the Miami HEAT Happy Hour held at Tobacco Road starting at 5PM.

Not the BB but still good!

The best part? It will also be available at all the COOLHAUS trucks in Austin, Los Angeles and New York as well as the store in Culver City, California.

Look for the 2 COOLHAUS trucks around Miami and work your way through their menu. You won’t be disappointed. Oh and make sure to have a BB Ice Cream sammie while you’re there.

Shake Shack’s Art Installation during December

Shake Shack is in the Art Basel spirit during December. The Shack asked the Director of the Art Program at Miami Beach High School Frank O’Hare to create some Shake Shake inspired art. He gave this assignment to 275 of his students between the grades of 9th and 12th. The 30 best were selected and are now hanging on the walls at Shake Shack.

The installation will be up at the SoBe Shake Shack through December 31st. If you’d like to see all the student’s artwork check it out at the Facebook page.
