We were in Jacksonville for Marcela’s birthday. So, we dropped into One Night Taco Stand, when coincidentally, it was Miami Night.
Miami Night means you can get a Mojito or Miami Vice for $6.99; I’ve never even heard of a Miami Vice. Well, Miami Vice is a frozen layered Piña Colada and Strawberry Daiquiri.
Since frozen cocktails are not my speed, an ice-cold brewski would have to do and did. However, it took a lot of restraint to not order The Ultimate Warrior premium drink.
We were surrounded by lucha libre murals, which added to the Mexican vibe. Yes, we loved it, even though we had only a couple of beers.
Two of the starters called our name, the Birria nachos & esquite. The Birria was excellent.
I’ve always been a fan of freshly sliced anything, even though these thick-cut jalapeños had no bite. I wish the tortilla chips had been slightly thicker, making better scooping.
The first few bites of the esquite did nothing for me, but I kept returning to it. It grew on me with each bite, and neither of us complained at the end.
Time For Some Fajitas
We were feeling 1980s T.G.I. Fridays, and that can only mean fajitas. We were this close to choosing the Fajitas La Roca (The Rock) with chicken, steak, and shrimp, but na-uh…chicken fajitas all the way.
The plate was still sizzling when it arrived, so I filmed ten seconds of sizzling for ya.
We enjoyed the chicken fajitas and kept looking over the menu, thinking about what we’d order if we had another day in Jacksonville. Unfortunately, we were heading to Lakeland in the morning, so we’ll keep it on our next-time list.
