La Moon in Coral Gables, Florida – CLOSED

La Moon - Coral Gables, Florida

I had been wanting to head to Downtown Miami to check La Moon out so imagine my surprise when I found out they had just opened a location in Coral Gables. How did this get past me? The sign outside is still not up so I did have to drive by a couple of time before I located it. I was impressed with the layout inside.

It was decorated with Colombian artifacts with tags explaining their age etc..pretty cool. They have a pretty varied menu but I came here to order from the “Fast Food/Comida Rapida” portion of it. I ordered the Crazymoon Burger (Ham, Egg, Bacon, Mozzarella, Potato Sticks, Pink sauce, Pineapple sauce & Lettuce) , the Supermoon Perro (a Hot Dog with Sausage, Bacon, Potato Sticks, Quail Egg, Pink sauce and Pineapple sauce) and a Mazorca Desgranada (Corn kernels with Lettuce, Pink sauce and Mozzarella cheese).

Mazorca Desgranada is just like the Maicito found at all the Colombian fast food restaurants, a definite must order. The Supermoon Perro has a nice twist with a quail egg on top. It was a great touch. The Crazymoon Burger was just exploding with flavor. Best of all, the burger patty itself was fresh and not frozen like most of the Colombian fast food joints. It had a great taste which is good news because I’m dying to try their Arepa Burger. Now that’s a burger that sounds crazy.

I breeze past the location in Brickell almost every day. I gotta check em out.

First, Id like to salute the burgerbeast for his vast burger knowledge and for the excellent recomdations made by him at John Martins. JM’s jumped up to the top of my “watch a sportsgame while eating good food place” list. Secondly, on La Moon… food has always been great.. BUT, as for the Brickell location, be prepared to pull out all your hair as you wait hours for your food and watch a very “clumsy” staff try and service their clients. Even “pick up” is a mission. Best time to go is at 4 am when you’ve downd a couple Vodka’s and dont mind the wait. Beats Taco Bell any day!
