Sunny Restaurant is located on the corner of a strip mall right near Arbetter’s Hot Dogs in Westchester. I knew they had stuffed burgers (also known as Juicy Lucys) on their menu because they mentioned it on their Twitter account. It was actually my main reason for coming out to eat here. They have some empanadas on the menu and I figured I’d give them a try.

Empanadas
I ordered a couple of the beef and one of the cheese. These are Colombian style empanadas (someone told me they’re actually Venezuelan) which happen to be probably the best type you can eat (in my opinion). The actual shell is cornmeal based.

Both empanadas were great. Next up I ordered their Hot Dog which was Colombian style with sauces topping it. They also added some relish and it was good but not the best dog I’ve had of this style.

After looking over the stuffed burgers I was torn. There’s Monterey Jack/Jalapeño, Ham/Cheese and Cream Cheese/Bacon Stuffed Burgers. I decide on the Ham/Cheese, which is kinda like a Burger Cordon Bleu. Speaking of which there’s a Grilled Chicken Cordon Blue on the menu also.

A couple of bites in I realized that the ham was cut into chunks. What sounded like a great idea turns out to be just OK. I didn’t care for the stuffing. I longed for the burger which seemed to have a good taste that was lost amongst its inhabitants. I made a mistake when ordering, maybe just the regular burger would have been better.
