I decided to take the long ride home from Gilbert’s 17th Street Grill, so I stopped at the Quickie’s in Dania Beach across from Jaxson’s. That was not a good idea, but their cheesesteak is excellent; I should have stopped at Dairy Belle instead.
Luckily, I came across a recently converted Checkers building. It now houses Cluckin’ Hot Chicks, a Nashville Hot Chicken-style restaurant.
All the chicken is never frozen, antibiotic and hormone-free, and hand-breaded. That’s fantastic news.
It’s a double drive-thru, but only the right lane was open. Usually, I’m well prepared, but I felt overwhelmed looking at all the options.
Choosing Which Cluckin’ Hot Chick
My choices were based on the thought it should be relatively easy to eat in my car, so bone-in chicken was out of the question. Instead, the Hot Chick namesake sandwich was the logical choice, with a Nashville Hot-style seasoned chicken breast, slaw, house sauce, and sweet pickles on a toasted bun.
I chose the Hot heat level for the sandwich but the tacos and tendies. Next time, I might dip my toes in the Cluckin’ Hot cause the What the Cluck is out of the question.
The order of Taco Chicks brings two with a chicken tender, shredded cheese, sweet pickles, cilantro, and avocado ranch sauces on a flour tortilla. Another choice that was more my wife’s speed with the avocado sauce.
Chicken Hot Tendies FTW
So far, so good, but it’s the chicken tenders, aka Hot Tendies, that I was looking forward to the most. They did not disappoint.
They were flavorful, perfect, and surprisingly large. Luckily, my insurance policy against an unknown heat level was a side of blue cheese.
Hot is manageable, but a deep dive into other sauces like the Caribbean jerk pineapple and the Sweet Heat honey cinnamon is necessary.
So, yeah, I freakin’ loved this place!!! And if you love juicy fried boneless chicken (particularly Nashville Hot-style), then I’m sure you’ll ❤️ Cluckin’ Hot Chicks.
There’s a second location in Warren, Michigan, and more restaurants are in the works for South Florida. My fingers are crossed for a proper Miami restaurant.
