Wow, just wow…I can’t believe it’s been almost 15 years since I wrote my first post on BurgerBeast.com. We’ve done so many things together, from countless food truck events, including the first in the state of Florida and setting the original Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Food Trucks, to my book All About the Burger, the world’s only Burger Museum and events like Croqueta Palooza.
It’s time to celebrate during September 2023 with burger popups, collabs, and a Scavenger Hunt around Westchester, where it all started. Come out, say hi, and eat some Burger Beast Approved cause; at the end of the day, the community is what it’s all about.
Burger Beast’s 15th Blogiversary celebration and events are brought to you by Gayo Azul, Orion Fuels, Johnny Cuba Beer, PINCHO, El Rey de las Fritas, edible South Florida, and Doink Design.

Sunday, September 10th – Scavenger Hunt in Westchester
On Sunday, September 10th, starting at 12 PM sharp, a Scavenger Hunt to celebrate Burger Beast‘s 15th Blogiversary will be happening all over Westchester, Florida.
For those unfamiliar with the neighborhood of Westchester, Florida…it can be easily reached via the Bird Road – West exit on the Palmetto Expressway headed South.
Burger Beast (aka me) recently wrote “Bird Road Forever,” an article for edible South Florida about all the iconic eating establishments on this strip of land featuring many Miami landmark restaurants.
You can run the scavenger hunt alone or with a team of up to 5 members. Whatever you decide, one ticket ($20) must be purchased to participate.
Why a Scavenger Hunt to celebrate 15 years? Well, growing up, I was a fan of any chase and scavenger hunt-themed films like After Hours, The Cannonball Run, Double McGuffin, The Goonies, The Gumball Rally, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, and Midnight Madness.
Get into the mindset of those films, and you’ll have an idea of what the hints will be like. Or maybe you wing it since you are well-versed in Westchester’s history.
All the final details will be revealed to all the participants live at the starting line of Mojo Donuts at 8870 SW 40th Street at 12 PM sharp, not Miami time!

The Grand Prize for the first place winner was gift cards from Burger Beast Approved restaurants: Arbetter Hot Dogs, Azucar Ice Cream, Babe’s Meat & Counter, Breadman Bakery, CAO Bakery, Cuban Guys, Dos Croquetas, Smoke & Dough, Tio Colo, Night Owl Cookies, PINCHO + a bottle of Smoke and Dough BBQ Sauce, a bottle of Brugal Rum, a Johnny Cuba Beer Gift Set, 2 cases of Gayo Azul Gouda Cheese (176 Slices), and one year’s worth of McDonald’s meals (52 FREE meal cards).

Saturday, September 16th – Cuban Guys en Hialeah
Mi gente of Hialeah, I’m finally introducing the tastiest burger from la sauwesera to you, the Cruz Diablo. It’s named after my grandfather, who was a professional wrestler; the Cruz Diablo is a double smash patty with premium American cheese, Cruz Diablo‘s spicy-ish sauce, and crispy onions & jalapeños on a sesame seed bun. Ay, mama!
Luckily, Cuban Guys will also be open, so you can get your pan con bistec and frita fix!

My collaboration with PINCHO is almost thirteen years in the making…we’ll be introducing El Pincho Beast. This double patty fella is topped with pimento cheese, bacon, and caramelized onions…but that’s not all my friends…you will find crispy onions & jalapeños with Cruz Diablo sauce on the bottom. This is what you call a winner, big time.
And you know what goes great with El Pincho Beast? An ice-cold Johnny Cuba Beer, it’s true.
